GLOSSARY - COMMON TRADING CARDS TERMINOLOGY

Below is a lst of commonly used terms within the hobby.  The list is not exhaustive and if you encounter any terms which you are not familiar with, just drop us a message and we will be more than happy to clarify/explain as best as we can.

 

Autograph/Auto cards - Autograph cards as the name implies are cards that have been signed by an actor/artist etc.  There are 3 main types of autographed cards; "On Card", "Sticker" and "Cut" autographs.  See further down for description.  These may also be referred to as "HITS".

Autograph Relic cards - A card containing a combination of an autograph & relic.  These may also be referred to as "HITS".

​

Base cards - Standard/Common card for the product. 

​

Case - A case(box) containing a number of sealed Boxes/Hobby Boxes within.

​

Case Card - Some manufacturers add this card as a bonus for customers that purchase a case of cards.  This is a bonus card inserted at the top of the case typically found 1 per case when inserted.

Cut Autograph cards - As Autograph Cards above where the actor/artist etc. is most likely deceased so unable to sign new cards.  Authenticated signatures have been obtained by the manufacturer and then cut and inserted within the card.

Hobby Box - A sealed box of cards containing a number os sealed packs within (typically 24 packs per box).  Hobby boxes typically contain a specified number of "Hits".

Hits - See Autograph Cards, Autograph Relic Cards & Memorabilia/Costume/Relic Cards.

 

 

 

Inserts/Chase cards - These are generally themed subsets (typically consisting of 9 cards per set) within the product which are a little harder to put together as the odds of finding these are set on ratios such as 1:3 packs, 1:5 packs etc.

Memorabilia/Costume/Relic cards - These cards will have at least one piece of authentic screen used/actor worn memorabilia swatch within the card.   These may also be referred to as "HITS".

​

On Card Autograph cards - As Autograph Cards above that have been signed by an actor/artist etc. directly on the card.

​

Parallel cards - Usually similar in design to a base/chase card but has a distinguishable quality.  This may include, but is not limited to; a different colour/pattern as well as being individually numbered.

​

Sticker Autograph cards - As Autograph Cards above where the actor/artist etc. has signed on a sticker which in turn has then been attached on the card by the manufacturer.
